You must do this assignment in the Finlandia library. Sign your name on the sign-up paper in the librarian’s office to indicate you spent about an hour reading and writing about one of the following:
- Two recent newspaper articles published after August 15, 2007.
- One rather recent magazine article. If it is a news magazine like Time or Newsweek, it should be a recent article from an August or September issue. If it is a magazine that is not just news, such as National Geographic or Ms., it should be published in 2007.
Write on lined paper, in ink, a summary of one or two paragraphs. In your own words, tell what the article is about. Then tell why the subject interests you and why you liked or disliked the article (or articles). Also list at least 8 new vocabulary words you learned from the reading and give the meanings in English. Copy the sentence containing the word and underline it. Try to figure out the meaning from the context, if possible.
This must be handed in by Friday, Sept. 14, in class, or earlier.
